It seems to activate due to light stop and go traffic, as per the design of the EITMS, albeit a bit sensitive.

The eitms is a lot better on the m8s. It seems to be entirely based on engine temp. My 14, it had to be above 80 air temp, 10 minutes on and above a certain engine temp (not certain on that last one).
